The coolest shoot. I did Sean Walsh of The National Reserve’s hair. Photos by Josh Wool. Check out thenationalreserve.com and joshwool.com

Imagine my excitement when an email arrived saying “I need your help! I’m going to the Oscars!” My long-time client Sierra, one of the producers of “Cutie and the Boxer” needed a cut and some styling stat—and some wardrobing assistance! What a great opportunity! For her cut, I took weight out of the existing layers to keep them long enough for an extreme side-parting, and gave the rest a trim to keep it long and healthy.

Mary Ping gave her this custom-made dress and her spectacular jewelry is by Semma (wish I had a close up on this bling). Her Enzo Angiolini shoes have some serious heel and strap — a perfect match to the dress. The heavy-weave clutch gives some graphic edge to the look.

Epic rains poured across LA leading up to the big event, so I used lots and lots of moisture product on top of a conditioning treatment to make sure her hair wouldn’t frizz up in the unusually humid air. I gave her natural curl some polish by twisting strands around an iron. Red carpet ready!

Jessica plays electric bass and just naturally emanates that cool vibe. We’ve been doing a heavily haircut that really works for her. To freshen up her look, we took the length up falling at that very now below-the-shoulders area, and I chopped up her bangs.
